Dear Ruth,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in with project members. Please review the following and respond to let us know that you are content with your current team or if you would like to be more involved.

The Project operates in a team structure. There are currently three participant PIP Teams -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.

There are currently three different Biography Teams - The Biography Team, the Abandoned Team, and the Popular Team.

You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team. The Biography Team works on profiles from their watchlist and other profiles that interest them. Are you happy with the Team you are on? If you are interested in working with a different Team, please let us know.

If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.

We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Hello Ruth,

I guess I don't need to give YOU this message. Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!

It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hello Joan

Apologies for the delay in replying - I've been away for a few days.

I'm happy with my membership of the Yorkshire team, but as I now have a One Place Study of the small village where I live Great Burdon, Durham One Place Study, which is just over the border in County Durham, it may make sense for me to also be a member of that team. Many of the inhabitants of the village crossed over the County Durham/Yorkshire border multiple times.

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hello Joan

Thank you for your message.

I'm happy with the Yorkshire Team. I recently started looking into the Port of Hull Society Sailors Orphan Home, having discovered that my great-grandfather and his brother were residents there in the 1881 census. Having just joined the YouTube livecast about One Place Studies, I've decided to do an OPS on this institution - which will fit nicely in Yorkshire.

Dear Ruth,

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. Please review the following and let us know if you are content where we have placed you or would like to be more involved.

We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. Hello Laura

I hope you can help me with a (hopefully) easy question. I've added the first of my grandparents (going slowly to try to get it right). I added a couple of images to the profile - the photograph is fine, but the scanned image only shows the pdf icon. I could rescan as a different format, but I have a lot of images saved as pdfs which I plan to add in due course. The profile in question is Ronald Pearson Jowett (1906-2002) - if you could advise what I've done 'wrong' I would be very grateful.

Thanks Ruth

Hello Ruth,

I am afraid that uploaded PDF images always show up with the PDF icon. If you can scan them again into an image format they would show as the images. There is some information on the page Uploading Documents.

Thank you, Laura

I thought that might be the case. I'll rescan the documents as and when I come to upload them (at least I have the originals)
