A good history of the descendants of Obadiah and Elizabeth Doyle Joy was
sent to me by Colleen J. Nielson, 54 East 200 South, PO Box 516, Ephriam,
Utah 84627. She has good footnotes and has done extensive research on this
line. I got a lot of information from her.
Also, on the Joy family GenForum page under Mayflower Lineage through
Obadiah Joy dated 3 March 1999, it indicates that we are eligible for
membership in the Descendants of the Mayflower through Elizabeth Doyle Joy.
A follow-up message on 23 Mar 1999 gives Elizabeth Doyle's genealogy path.
Her mother was a Sprague which falls under Richard Warren who was on the
Mayflower.
Once I got this far back, there was tons of information on these families on
the internet. They are all prominent families in Massachusetts. "The
Descendants of Thomas Joy" has a lot of footnotes and research on the
families. I also have a copy of "The Joy Family" by Caroline Dyer. It has
more errors as her research isn't as well done.
Anyway, I hope this helps. I hope you can put this all together. It is
almost 11:00 pm here and I still haven't got all my kids to bed yet. We just
got home from looking at Christmas lights and my five year old is asleep on
the couch. Needless to say, I'm hoping this all makes sense since I had a
lot of distractions while writing. If you have any questions, feel free to
ask. I'm just beginning to do genealogy. I've only been working on my
father's line seriously for about a year. I basically tried to document what
he had written down. The only problem I've run into is documenting William
Wallace's parentage.
You mentioned that your wife is related to the Joy's in Nebraska. Perhaps
she has information that would help me. My father was Charles William Joy.
He was born 9 Jan 1900 in Thornburg , Smith County, Kansas to Alfred Roscoe
and Mira Ellen Davis Joy. They moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska where my father
grew up. He graduated from Red Cloud High in 1917. Alfred's parents were
William Wallace Joy and Sarah Isabelle Koontz. They lived in Smith Center,
Smith County, Kansas and are buried there. I know dad had an Aunt Carrie
Baumann (Frances Ivy Caroline Joy) whose husband, Michael Baumann was a
minister in the area.
Mira Ellen Davis was the daughter of Charles Davis and Ruth Mallonee Davis.
They lived in Mt. Hope, Smith Center, Kansas and are buried in the Mt. Hope
Cemetery. Mira married a Gus Nyberg after Alfred died. They lived in Red
Cloud, Nebraska. I'm having trouble taking that line back any further too.
If you have any information on this line of the family, I would appreciate
the help. I've got Charles Davis' Civil War records but they don't mention
parents or siblings.
Your cousin somehow, somewhere

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Solomon:
