Edward Walter Joyce was born on 2 February 1876 in King Williams Town, Cape Colony, son of John Joyce (1822–1893).

Edward had a brother, John Malachi Joyce (18 April 1868 – 3 October 1908).

Edward died on 9 September 1917 in Mafeking Union of, South Africa, aged 41.[1] [2]

Edward (28) married Alice Eliza Green (22) (born about 1 January 1882 in Kimberley, Cape Colony; daughter of John Lot Green and Margaret Bertha (Hunkin) Green) on 11 February 1904 in Mafiking.[3] Their known children were:

  2. Mary Elizabeth Joyce (1907 – 4 October 1934)
