Biography

Charlotte was born in North Carolina in 1815. She was the daughter of Thomas Joyce and Nancy Joyce. In 1833 Charlotte married Dillon joyce and together they were parents of eight children. They farmed in Rockingham County North Carolina where Charlotte passed away between 1850-1860. —Notes—

• Charlotte is listed as daughter and Nancy as wife in Thomas Joyce’s Will probated Feb 1843.

• Charlotte Joyce married first cousin Dillon Joyce. Their fathers were brothers and their mothers were sisters. Charlotte’s father Thomas Joyce was brother to Dillon’s father John Joyce Jr. who were sons of John Joyce Sr. Also, Charlotte’s mother Nancy Joyce was sister to Dillon’s mother Elizabeth Joyce who were daughters of Elijah Joyce.

• No records found of birth and death dates. Birthdate taken from 1850 Census at age 35. She is not in her family’s 1860 Census so infer death was between 1850-1860. FamilySearch lists her death in 1856 but is without source.
