Herbert joined the 11th Light Horse Regiment in January 1915, and was discharged in 1918, having served in Palestine. His next of kin on enlistment was: Sister, Thelma Joyce, Gayndah, Queensland. His address when he enlisted was Gayndah, Queensland. His occupation when he enlisted was Horse breaker. His rank was Shoeing Smith. His Regimental Number was: 165. [1] [3]
