Clara was born in August of 1889 in Texas. In 1894, her mother married Childress/Chilbes Joyner and he adopted Clara. Her biological father is currently unknown (see bio space above).

She was married in April of 1908 to Elmer Leamon Tippet in Texas, and they had a total of eight children.

In the 1920 census, the family was reported to be living in Kansas. By 1930, they had relocated to Oklahoma.

She passed away in July of 1962. She is buried at Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, Craig, Oklahoma.
