Mrs. Ruby Lee Joyner McGee, 83, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Forsyth County to Ada Mae and Robert Lee Joyner. She was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and was a member of the Christian Workers Sunday school class at Freedom Baptist Church. Mrs. McGee thoroughly enjoyed Southern gospel music sung with the group at Springwood Nursing Home on Wednesday as long as her health permitted. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Odell McGee; and a daughter, Patricia McGee Childress. Surviving are a daughter, Aletha Westmoreland (Bobby); two sons, Everette Lee McGee (Barbara) and Phillip Wayne McGee (Judy); four sisters, Clorinda Renegar, Arlene Lowe, Roberta Grantham (Ronnie) and Zerilda Amos; three brothers, William Joyner (Peggy), Bobby Joyner (Carolyn) and Ovilla Joyner; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel, with the Rev. Doug Anders officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Monday evening, Sept. 3, at the funeral home. A special thanks to granddaughter Lorinda Hazelwood.
