Henry was born in 1817, the son of John Judd and Ann Denham. He was baptised on 30 Nov 1817 at Whippingham, Isle of Wight.[1]
In 1849 he married Jane Chambers at St Mary, Carisbrooke, Hampshire.[2] They had one child, Harry, who passed away in Dec 1849 at the age of 7 months.
The 1851 census[3] shows the couple living at Portsea, Hampshire.
By 1856 Jane has died, and the 1861 census[4] shows him living in Carisbrook, Isle of Wight with his parents. He is a Greenwich Pensioner.[5]
In 1867 he married Mary Bramble at St John, Carisbrooke, Hampshire.[6]
By the 1871 census[7] his father has died, and he and Mary are living in Newport with Henry's mother.
At this point the records vanish. Family legend has it that they moved to Melbourne, Australia and in all likelihood this took place after his mother's death in 1876. This makes sense since his two remaining brothers lived there, but no records can be found for either Henry or Mary in Victoria. It is also possible that Mary died on the Isle of Wight in the 1870's, and that Henry traveled to Australia alone.
