Nancy (Judd) Hodson was the daughter of Perry Judd (1806- ) and Elizabeth McQueary (1803-1834) who were both born in North Carolina. Nancy's parents were married in North Carolina but moved to Madison County, Indiana, where Nancy's mother died when she was only 9. Nancy had two known full-siblings:
Sarah Ann Judd 1824-1851
Jane Judd 1832-1849
After Nancy's mother died, her father reportedly remarried and had several more children.
On January 14, 1845, at the age of 19, Nancy married 30-year-old widower William Hodson who had two children, ages 4 and 2:
Rachel Hodson 1841-
Hiram Hodson 1834-1898
Nancy and William had 8 known children of their own:
Perry Hodson 1846–1891
John A. Hodson 1848–1928
William Hodson 1852–1925
George Washington Hodson 1853–1925
Benjamin F. Hodson 1856–1930
Sarah Elizabeth (Hodson) Dennis 1859–1914
Andrew Jackson Hodson 1861–1926
Susan B. Hodson 1865–1937
Sadly, Nancy died November 5, 1865, at the age of 40, just one month and 18 days after the birth of her 8th child Susan. Nancy was buried in Capp-Tucker Cemetery. A year and a half later, William remarried in Indiana to Sarah Emma Perdue. He moved to Sullivan County, Missouri where he married again in 1869 to Virginia Jerrett. William is buried in Brackett Cemetery in Sullivan County, Missouri.
