In 1870 he emigrated on the ship 'Germany' to Canada arriving in Quebec June 22.
By 1881 he was living with his widowed sister Elizabeth Mott and her 3 children and working as a Farmer.
Richard never married and died in 1895 age 56 of Dropsey at Oxford, Ontario.
