Biography

James was born about 1789. He passed away before 15 Jun 1816, as his mother's will names "grand sons Fletcher Taylor Judge & James Judge sons of James Judge Junr decd.; their sister Polly Ann Judge." [1]

From my mother's notes: JAMES JUDGE III, born circa 1789 in Halifax Co, NC, married Martha Jenkins on February 22, 1811, in Granville Co, NC. [1] Fairfield Co, SC court records make it appear James JUDGE III died in 1815 or 1816 in Fairfield Co, SC (probably near Winnsboro.)JAMES JUDGE III left three small children: Fletcher Taylor Judge, born 1813 Mary Ann (Polly) Judge, born 1814 James Judge IV, born 1815.

JAMES JUDGE III, was the son of James and Christian (Hilliard) JUDGE II .James Judge II was the son of James and Hannah (Horn) Judge I, all of Halifax Co, VA. After JAMES JUDGE III's death, his widow, Martha Jenkins Judge moved back to Granville Co, NC, and lived with her Taylor relatives. She then moved to Madison Co, AL with a Taylor uncle where she married (2) Ebenezer Byrum in 1827. They moved to Jackson Co, AL about 1831 where Fletcher Taylor Judge married in 1833. Martha Jenkins Judge Byrum and Ebenezer Byrum moved to DeSoto Co, MS about 1834-35 and lived there until their deaths.

  • Note - Marriage license witness is Fletcher Taylor (Martha "Patsy" Jenkins' uncle - mother's brother), whom first son is obviously named for - FamilySearch: [2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
