Isom was married three times, to Elizabeth Patterson (1794-1860) – they had 5 sons and 2 daughters, to Mrs. Elmira Moore Black (1820-1878) – they had one daughter, and to Mrs. Sophia Clarrissa Roberts Wilson (1820-1891). "Isom Julian came with his wife, two or three children, his parents, and perhaps other kinsmen from Rutherford Co., N.C. to Blount Co., Tenn. about 1815. He was the first minister to go out from Logan's Chapel Methodist Church, which was organized in 1790." [Manly] He moved to McMinn County TN prior to 1840. An Isham Julian, probably he, owned land after 1842 in Hamilton County near Tyner. By 1850 Isom was living in Chatata Valley northeast of Cleveland TN. He actively supported the Union during the Civil War. Julian's Chapel Methodist Church on Tasso Road, constructed in 1867, was named in his honor. Isom was still listed as local Elder of the M. E. church at his death in 1885. Per Glenn M. Julian
