Welcome, I'm Mary, a Mentor. Our goal is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person. Please make sure to avoid Duplicates when adding a profile.
Adding DOB, DOD, locations, and Sources/references attached to each person helps all.
If you encounter ancestors already on WikiTree ( less than 200 years), contact the Profile Manager for trusted access.
Don't forget to Head over to the G2G forum. and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House or ask a question in any of the other categories. There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: for that "special" ancestor who is eluding you.
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community! Please remember that we are trying to build one Collaborative Global Family Tree which means only one profile per person. It is important to ensure that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.
To help you get started, check out an introductory WikiTree video that a member created. For member benefits, see our Community Members page.
We also have a Mentor Team who will be glad to answer questions and help you with any specific problems.
I have a lifelong interest in clarifying my roots and passing on what I have found to the generations to come. My efforts at research have been hampered a bit by too infrequent forays into the past, and I welcome the opportunity to connect with eager and committed collaborators. I definitely agree that all genealogical source material should forever be free to the seeker. The Nine rules, as Grand-pappy might say " just plain common sense!", and an excellent community standard.
I hope someday to find the family history my father worked on, only heard about, which vanished into some dark cupboard somewhere nearly 60 years ago. I will do what I can to assist, and give thanks in advance all who may help me.
