Marie Anne was the daughter of Nicolas Julien and Francoise Gingras. She was born 30 May 1793 and baptized the same day in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, in modern-day Québec. Her godfather was François Gingras; her godmother's name is illegible on the record.[1]
On 2 August 1814, the twenty-one-year old Marie Anne married the twenty-five-year-old Nicolas Beaupré in St-Augustin. In attendance as witnesses were Marie Anne's uncles François Gingras and Etienne Gingras, and her brother Jean Baptiste Julien.[2]
Marie Anne and Nicolas had the following children:
Nicolas and Marie Anne were relatively early settlers in the area that came to be called Saint-Raymond after the official founding of the parish in 1844. They moved to the area sometime after the birth of their final child, Marie Philomène, in October 1837, and their household appears on the 1842 Census for St-Raymond. The large family of ten had one cow and one pig, and lived on a farm that produced barley, rye, oats, and potatoes.[3]
Nicolas passed away in 1848, and Marie Anne continued to live in St-Raymond after his death. She appears on the first page of the 1851 Census of Canada East for St-Raymond in a household with four of her children.[4]
Marie Anne passed away 27 August 1852, at the age of fifty-nine. She was buried two days later in St-Raymond.[5]
