Julien was born in 1812 and he was a native of Mauritius. He was a convict after the 3rd fleet and was transported on the convict transportation Patriot to New South Wales arriving on 1st February 1838. Julien had travelled with 14 other convicts. [1] [2]
Julien had been tried at Port Louis General Court Martial in Mauritius with Sylvain Sylvanis and both were convicted of setting fire to a gaol door which led to the death of another prisoner. Both men were convicted of Manslaughter [3]
A note on his convict records advises that 1838 Patriot records described Julien's
"character as "extremely bad"."Appears to have been up on cattle stealing charge before" [4]
