Research Notes

Joan (Lambert) Loeffler (profile to be created), 3rd great granddaughter of Johann Leonhard Jung, traveled to Lützellinden in the 1990s with her husband Karl Loeffler to research the history of the Jung families who emigrated to Nova Scotia circa 1750. Joan and Karl shared their findings with Joan's second cousin, also a researcher and descendant of J. Leonard Jung to ensure this information could be passed down.

Potter-7433 and the second cousin (above, Unlisted) also traveled to Lützellinden: they were "fortunate to correspond and meet with Hartmut Tünn Klein of Kleinlinden in 2006. He has collected and compiled a great deal of information about the families of the area and kindly shared his information with me and with Dr. Chris Young who is an authority on the descendants of Andreas Jung (Young, 2002)..."

One of the key documents from Evangelische Kirche Lützellinden was a record of details surrounding Johann Leonhard's birth (image in this profile).

Sincere thanks to Heike Blumreiter for translating the document and Danny Gutnecht for editing the fine points.

The child she gave birth to was a boy and she gave it to Johannes Jung, in whose house she was. It was baptized and given the name Johann Leonhard. That happened on 22 November."
