Anna Maria's parents Nikolaus and Anna, children John, Michael and Joseph arrived at Port of New York on 24 December 1854 from Prussia (Germany) and were among the early settlers in Johnsburg, McHenry County, Illinois. Anna Maria and her sister Anna Catherine arrived in Johnsburg the following year, 1855
Anna and Peter were the parents of eleven known children

",,,,, Anna was born at Hirten, Prussia (Germany) on 27 January 1841. In 1866 [1854] her parents left their native country for America, leaving the two eldest children in the Fatherland, her parents being financially unable to bring all of the family at one time. Mrs. Schaid [Scheid] with another sister followed their parents to this country two years later [1855]. The family first settled at Johnsburg, where Anna Justen grew up and was married to Peter Schaid [Scheid]. The exact date of the marriage could not be supplied by our informant. After a short residence at Johnsburg, the family moved to this village, where her husband, who passed away five years ago, conducted a blacksmith shop for many years. They later moved to Crystal Lake and thence to Elgin, where Mrs. Schaid [Scheid] made her home with her daughter for a number of years. Anna was the mother of eight children" .....
