Biography

Siegfried was born on September 9, 1935. His paternal grandparents had moved from Germany to Poland where his father was born in about 1917 in Gowarzewo. Sometime before 1935 his father and mother moved to back to Germany. They settled in Gorspen-Vahlsen where Siegfried was born. Gorspen-Vahlsen is close to both Windheim and Lahde where relatives from both sides of my family came from. Siegfried was my 3rd cousin once removed. He married Marlene Passmanns with whom she had their first child, Sandra, in 1962 in Gorspen-Vahlsing. Marlene was 27 and Siegfried was 26. They lived in Gorspen-Vahlsen until 1964 when they moved 123 kilometers north to Lilienthal. It was there that their second child, a boy named Gunnar, was born in 1967. In 2013 he sent me 5 e-mails with much information about his part of our shared ancestry. In 2019 I wrote on Tree on Ancestry: "I miss him a lot. I have tried to email him but nobody ever answered." I met another newly found relative on the internet. His name is Falko Marien. He surprised me and found for me that Siegfried died. Falko wrote me and sent me the following:

die Trauerfeier 22 März 2016 • Lilienthal, Osterholz, Lower Saxony, Germany "Die Trauerfeier findet am Dienstag, dem 22. März 2016, um 10.30 Uhr in der Kapelle auf dem Friedhof Lilienthal, Falkenberger Landstraße, statt; anschließend Beisetzung." Bestattungsinstitut Stelljes, 28865 Lilienthal, Hauptstrauße 62.

SIegfried had died on March 15, 2016, and his funeral was held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at 10:30 a. m. A Kapella is not what we think of as a church but rather more like a chapel related to a church. Siegfried's funeral took place in the Kapelle that was located in the Lilienthal cemetery.

--Note-- Siegfried was so kind and gentle. We corresponded until he became sick and died.
