Biography
Stephen Kaiser was kicked out of nursery school in Bennington Vermont in 1948 at the age of 4. Technically, he was "counseled out" which meant he was requested never to return. He attended grade school in New Jersey, with a year in England in 1 955-56 when he was in 7th grade. He attended Somerville High School in Somerville New Jersey and then entered MIT in Cambridge, Mass, earning Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering. In 1970, he began work as a transportation engineer in the state parks agency of Massachusetts, and worked in state positions as an environmental engineer for 15 years, For the past 30 years, he has been an independent citizen engineer dealing with traffic, transit and flooding issues. He also taught computers in five Catholic schools over an eight-year period.
He moved into his current apartment at 191 Hamilton Street in Cambridge in September 1965, and purchased the building in 1972. The structure was built in 1901 as a traditional three-decker, thus providing two rental units that have subsidized my engineering and teaching work for the past 43 years.
He bought my first computer in 1982 a Zenith Z-89 with 48K of RAM and a single floppy drive -- and a dot matrix printer, all for $3,000. The genealogy software at the time was very primitive, By 2015 he had eight working computers in my apartment, plus a tablet. His primary professional interest in 2015 was in improved mass transit for the Boston area, given the fact that the system collapsed during the snowstorms of February 2015. His stated metier is school teaching, second grade, computers and math.
He contributes to a community TV blog in Cambridge,with commentary on community affairs and local histories.
In 2015, he had one sister living in Maine. Both parents and all four grandparents are deceased.

I also have a professional interest in the history of community activists in the Boston area, and I am working to assemble family history information on their families as well.

Such trees can serve as a guide during family reunions, and is especially useful for introducing children to a "road map" of the family.
