Biography

Volga German
Jakob Kaltenberger is a Volga German.
Jakob Kaltenberger has German Roots.

Family #15 in the 1857 Grimm census.

The position of this Georg Jakob Kaltenberger in the 1857 census indicates that he is the son of Georg Jakob Kaltenberger, born in 1826. The footnote after his age says "Age as Listed." The age listed is 31, the exact age as his father. Obviously this is an error, for father and son can't be the same age. I think there was a census taker error, and because their names were the same, Georg Jakob, he mistakenly wrote down the age of the father twice.

If Georg Jakob's father was born in 1819 and married when he was 24, that would mean he married around 1843. His second son was born in 1851, so I assigned first son Georg Jakob a birth year of 1847. If I learn his exact birth year is different, I will update his profile accordingly.
