Thomas Kane was born in Ireland.

Mr Tommy Keane, Furnace, Newport. The death occurred on Friday, January 25 at Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar of Mr Tommy Keane of Furnace, Newport. Reposing at St Dominick’s Funeral home Newport on Sunday evening from 5pm, removal to the parish church took place at 7pm where his remains were received by Canon Eamon Concannon PP, Newport. Mass for the repose of his soul was celebrated on Monday at noon By Canon Concannon and afterwards burial took place in Burrishoole Cemetery. During Mass the Readings were read by his grand-daughter Angela Murphy and the Prayers of the Faithful were read by his granddaughter Mary Murphy, and two grandsons Thomas Keane and Jonathan Keane. The Offertory Gifts were carried to the altar by his two daughters Mary Murphy and Jacqueline Lyons and his grandson Pat Murphy. Newport Church Choir provided the hymns accompanied by organist and soloist Miriam Chambers-Fadden, and because of his love of traditional music and his ability to play the accordion, local musicians Rose Conway, Mary Teresa Geraghty and Dominick O’Grady played a traditional air as the remains were removed from the parish church. Tommy, who was predeceased by his wife Mary and twin children Ann and Michael, is survived by his daughters, Mary Murphy, Furnace; Bernadette Keane, Furnace, and Jacqueline Lyons, Ballyhaunis; his son Thomas, Furnace; his sister Mary Williams, Liverpool. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchild, sons-in-law Paddy Murphy and Tom Lyons, brother-in-law Albert Williams, nephews, nieces, many relatives and friends.
