Neely Kane was born on 23 Apr 1869 in Killyguillib nr. Kilrea, County Londonderry, Ireland. He was the son of William Kane and Jane (Falkender) Kane. [1]

He married Margaret Sloan on 14 Nov 1895 at the Parish Church, United Church of England and Ireland, Tamlaght O'Crilly 'Derry, Northern Ireland. [2] [3] [4] [5]

The family left for Australia from London on the "Jumna" on 22 Sep 1900 and arrived in Rockhampton on 18 Nov 1900. [6][7] [8] [9] [10]

The family of Neely’s brother Stewart Kane went to Canada. Another brother Adam Kane went to New York. [11] Another brother William Kane who was single, came to Australia but was lost in the bush and died during the prickly pear eradication. [12]

He was a Ploughman and a Teamster. [13] [14] [15]

Neely “Neil” Kane died on 20 Dec 1923 in the Mount Morgan Hospital and was buried in the Mount Morgan Cemetery, Mount Morgan, Queensland. [15] [16] [14]
