Michael is E in Charles Fah Kauffman's book. His line starts on page 547.[1]
This family immigrated to Philadelphia in August 1717 and settled in Lancaster Co, PA; Married Aug 1741 to Barbara Haldeman (c. 1717 in Zweibrüchen, Germany - 24 Feb 1764).
On 23 Feb 1736, a Martin Coffman [D] of the "Parish of Lancaster county" (PA) purchased 217 acres on the "north side of the Sharrundo" (Shenandoah) River in then Orange Co., VA which he farmed until his death there in 1749. [2] Michael, Martin's brother, appears to have farmed this tract until the Indian Raids of 1758, a direct result of Gen. Braddock's defeat, which caused many families including Michael to leave the area. Michael with his family returned to Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, Hempfield township.
On 10 Oct. 1760, the children of Martin Kauffman [D] dec., viz. Martin, David, Anna, Magdalena and Barbara, deeded to Michael Kauffman [E] a 257½ acre tract in Lancaster Co., PA, Hempfield Twp., to fulfill a contract made prior to Martin's Kauffman's death. The farm was near Landisville.[3]
On 1 April 1765, Michael Kaufman of Lancaster Co., PA, "but late of Augusta Co., VA," conveyed to Henry Brumback and Anna his wife, late Anna Kaufman, dau. and orphan of Martin Kaufman [D], deceased of Frederick Co., VA, 400 acres.[4]
In 1785, Michael and Magdalena Kauffman deeded the 217 acres he originally acquired in 1736 to his son David Coffman [E2] who in turn sold it to Mary Brubaker in 1805. On 18 Dec. 1788, now living back in Rockingham Co., VA, Michael Kauffman deeds to his son Samuel Kauffman [E3] of Lancaster Co., PA the farm in Hempfield Twp. Michael's Will was written on 12 Dec 1788 a few days before his death on 21 Dec. 1788. [5]

I've added this to his list of sources and corrected the death location.
This Kauffman's Mennonite heritage tags him as a likely descendent of the Bernese Kauffmans. More investigation is needed.
I am preplexed with the middle name of Joseph as I haven't seen any documentation for a middle name of Joseph, but otherwise these are the same people and appear in a list of children for Kauffman-141. Thanks so much!!
