John Kaye, an English churchman, served as both the Bishop of Bristol and Lincoln during his career.
John Kaye, the only son of linen draper, Abraham Kaye, and Susan Bracken, was born in Angel Street, Hammersmith. [1]
John married Eliza Mortlock (1781–1853) on the 18th of July 1815 in Great Abington, Cambridge, England.[2][3] They had children
Kaye became the Bishop of Bristol in 1820 while continuing the academic work he'd started in 1814 with Cambridge University. [1] [4] In 1827, having been elected the Bishop of Lincoln, Kaye stopped his academic work and improved the diocese's procedures. [4]
He died on 18 February 1853 and was buried in Lincoln Cathedral.[3]
