Newspaper obit: (name of newspaper not given)

"Died--in Seguin, Feb. 25, 1874, of Consumption, Mrs.[sic] David Julian Kean, in the 32d year of his age. Mr. K, son of Sam'l. and R. B. Kean, was born in Alleghany Co. Va., married Oct. 15th, 1868 to Miss Mary Benson Shanklin; he then became of citizen of what is now Summers Co., West Va., at which place he left his family last fall, and came to Texas with the hope of recovering his health. It proved too late. He had many old friends here; and gathered new and warm ones during his brief sojourn among us, as was seen by the attention given him in sickness, as also, by the large concourse in attendance on the stranger's funeral.

Since 1866, the deceased has been a member of the Presbyterian Church, and at his death was in connection with the Centreville Church, W. Va. All his days, known as a man inflexibly just, he was better known among such as feared God--a good man and a Christian". His youngest child went home to God just two weeks before him. He leaves many broken ties, the most tender of which is that realized by a wife and two little ones. The God of the widow and fatherless, stands pledged for their protection. "
