Hi Melissa, the two main sources of Keane (etc) in Co Galway are the OCahan clan of Aidhne (south Galway) who are mentioned in the Irish annals and another OCahan clan in west Galway who were previously thought to be the same, but who DNA testing proved to be unrelated. So if you have a male Kane willing to be tested, Y-DNA is kane way to tell if a Galway Kane is from west or east Galway. See eithe the Cain or the Keane DNA projects at Family Tree DNA.
