Nellie Mary Veronica Keane was born on 22 June 1904 near Willaston, South Australia.[1]
Nellie married Gordon Parham on 5 September 1925 [2]
PARHAM— KEANE
At the Methodist Church. Gawler, last Saturday, Nellie, the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Keane, of Gawler, was married to Gordon Parham, Rev Ingram Pearson officiated. The church was prettily decorated, a large bell bearing the Initials of the bride and bridegroom was suspended over the heads of the bride and bridegroom. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr. Archie Keane, wore pale cream knife pleated georgette. The panels were hand embroidered in silk stitchings. A tulle veil, hand made with silver lace, was worn cap style, trimmed with orange blossom silver lace and brilliants.
The bridesmaids were Misses Dorothy and Maisie Keane (sisters of the bride) . Both were frocked alike in coral pink silk georgette trimmed with gold lace. They wore black crin hats with pink and gold flowers as trimming; also wide black streamer. Little Marjory Keane (flower girl) wore a frock of pale cream crepe de chine, trimmed with small hand made gold roses and scallops. She carried a small basket of pink sweet peas and forget-me-nots.
While the register was being signed, Miss M. Brown sang 'Because.' When she was leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by little Gwyn Jenkins (niece of the bridegroom). The bridegroom's brothers, Messrs. Jack and Bruce Parham acted as best man and groomsman respectively.
The reception was held at the Foresters' Hall. The guests numbering about 50 were received by the bride's parents. Mrs. Keane was gowned in black marocain trimmed with buttons and floral marocain, and she wore a black hat. Mrs. Parham wore a black marocain gown, also black hat with pastel shade flowers. The usual toasts were honored. The contributors to the programme were Misses M. Brown, M. Keane, and Mrs. Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Parham left by car to the Bay, en route for the West Coast, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in an English grey tailored costume. She wore a small fuchsia shade hat trimmed with gold and autumn leaves.
