Emma Kearsley was born about 1821 in Chester, Cheshire.She was baptised on 28 March 1821 at St John the Baptist Church, Chester.^[1]

A marriage bond was entered into on 14 July 1840 in Cheshire for the intended marriage of Emma Kearsley (aged 19) daughter of John Kearsley, and John Coglan (aged 24). ^[2]
