Melchert was baptized on 30 March 1701 at Kingston (Hoes #1229) with parents Claes Melchertse Keeter and Jannetje van der Merck and sponsors Jacob va de Merck and Mary Merchertse.[1] [2]
Kingston marriage record Feb. 26 1725, #555 in Hoes, for Melgert Keeter born in Marbletown and Debora Kinny born in Elizabethtown. Both resident in Marbletown.
They had about 10 children, with 4 dying young. [2]
In 1738 he served in the Foot Company of the Militia in Marbletown, New York, under Capt. Daniel Brodhead and his own brother, Sgt. Thomas Keator. [2]
He was a woodsman, farmer, cooper and a founder of the Marbletown Reformed Dutch Church.
He made his last Will on 01 Feb 1777 and signed by his mark, a well-shaped M.
His land holdings embraced several acres of mainly woodland, on the foothills of the mountains immediately back of the old Walkill Valley (later New York Central) Railroad at Rosendale, New York.
He died about 1793 and his Will was in the probate court on 28 Jun 1793. [2]
