There is no evidence that Elizabeth Johnson was married to Martin Kee. There is no evidence Martin was ever married to anyone other than Eleanor Daniel. Martin and Eleanor were married in 1804 in Granville County, North Carolina. Moved shortly thereafter to Chester County, South Carolina (on the 1810 census there). Martin and Eleanor had possibly 17 children, 14 known children. Eleanor outlived Martin, dying in 1866; Martin died in 1848.
J. W. Kee, grandson of Martin Kee, on May 22, 1887, signed a statement, "to whom it may concern...That he and his father (Martin and Luck) both spelled their name Key and that the children of Martin Kee changed or corrupted the spelling of the surname to Kee.
