He arrived in New South Wales as a convict on the Almorah. He was aged 21, had been tried in Kildare, Ireland and was sentenced to life. His occupation is given as a carter. [1]
Thomas was one of a group of convicts sent to King George Sound to establish a settlement in 1826. Their role was to provide labour to early settlers in the area. After the Swan River Colony was established, the King George Sound settlement was abandoned and the convicts returned to New South Wales.
Thomas applied for, and was granted permission to marry Bridget Hussey in 1932. He was aged 32 and Bridget was 52. [2]
