Born and raised in northwest Arkansas, and graduated from Green Forest High School in 1971. Bachelor degree from Southwest Missouri State University (1975, Biology), Masters degree from the University of Arkansas (1978, Botany). Joined the US Army in 1978 (infantry). Stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia (1st Infantry Training Brigade) and then at Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii (1st Battalion, 14th Infantry). Graduated Officers Candidate School in 1981 and commissioned as a 2LT in the combat engineers. Stationed with the 14th Engineer Battalion at Fort Ord, California and then at the Walla Walla District of the US Army Corps of Engineers in Walla Walla, Washington. PhD degree in forest ecology from the University of Georgia and the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (1994, Forest Ecology, major professor was Dr. Rebecca R. Sharitz). Worked at the USGS National Wetland Research Center in Lafayette, Louisiana for 16 years. I specialize in research on Baldcypress swamps and bottomland hardwood forests. Have been doing some genealogy work on my family and my wife's family for more than 15 years

Lastly, sometimes youll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.
