Obituary Malcom Roebuck Keeler:

Keeler, Malcolm Roebuck 88, was a great guy. He passed away on November 15, 2013 peacefully at home and is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carlotta and children, Sandra (Butch), Raymond (Stephanie), Jean and 5 grandchildren. Malcolm grew up in Evanston, Illinois, was a graduate of Northwestern University and quickly obtained his CPA. He went on to get his MBA and practiced in New Mexico, California and Arizona for more than 50 years. Mal and Carlotta loved to travel and did so up until the last day of his life. They enjoyed staying in bed and breakfasts all over the world and would spend long hours talking with the local people wherever they stayed. They did extensive traveling in many countries and always tried to find something new. In their journeys they always wanted to continue the adventure and many times opted for the more daring route. In New Zealand, they hiked for some 50 miles over rough terrain, including snow, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. In Africa, they floated over the Serengeti in a hot air balloon. They've sailed the oceans and rivers of the world in everything from the QE II to wonderfully cozy sailboats. From crossing the Atlantic to sailing the Mediterranean and rivers in Europe, they thoroughly immersed themselves in their surroundings. They drove the narrow roads in the Alps and spent time wandering the back roads in Southern England. And as each trip ended they would unpack, rest a few days and begin planning the next trip. An avid outdoorsman, Mal loved to fish, but seldom reeled one in. He enjoyed hiking, river rafting and the Grand Canyon. Mal was active in Boy Scouts (he was an Eagle Scout) and then as a Scout Leader making lifelong friends with the other scout fathers. These friendships have lasted over 50 years and after the scouts had grown up and married, the scout fathers continued as close friends. Mal was an honest, loyal and private man. His family and friends were dear to him and he held them close to his heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mal Keeler's name should be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association at www.apdaparkinson.org or email [email address removed] Mal had Parkinson Disease, but never let it slow him down. His fiber, his drive was to always push through any difficulty to achieve the goal. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ. A Celebration of Life will follow at the home of Ray and Stephanie Keeler.
