OBITUARY - Published in Redding Record Searchlight on Dec. 4, 2013

Lois Keener Anderson, a long time resident of Shasta County, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center following a year long battle with cancer.

Lois was born October 6, 1933 in Three Sands, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Albert and Myrtle Keener. Times were tough in Oklahoma in the 1930's and when Lois' father died suddenly in 1937 life got a little tougher. Lois' mother Myrtle decided to take her family west, first settling in Canyon City, Colorado; but after a year decided to move further west to California. They arrived in Fall River Mills, California where Lois' sister Edith and her husband John Thomas resided. There the family thrived. Lois made friends in Fall River that would last a lifetime. At the age of 18, Lois met John 'Andy' Anderson at a softball game where he was pitching and her sister Reba's husband was the catcher.

In 1952 after Lois graduated from her beloved Fall River Mills High School she married Andy. The two first settled in Fall River where Andy began his carrier with P.G.& E. Andy was transferred to Redding, then Weaverville and then back to Red! ding where they settled raising their two daughters Wanda and Diana. Lois was very active in raising her girls and was an avid participant in all their activities. She was an excellent seamstress, which came in handy with two girls. When the girls got older, she decided to join the work force by enrolling in classes at Shasta College. She then became employed by the Shasta Union High School District/Nova High School as the head baker for twenty plus years, home of the "no-bake brownies". Some of her recipes had even won state awards. She retired from the school district in 1989. Lois and Andy enjoyed traveling the states, being involved in their church and spending time with their family, who she loved and adored.

Lois is survived by her husband Andy of 61 years, daughters Wanda Holcomb (husband Ted) Redding, CA and Diana Campbell (husband Jim) Oak Harbor, WA. Grandchildren Christopher Cheek, St. Helena, CA, Cynthia Vengley, Anderson, CA, Melissa Holcomb, Wollongong, Australia and Nicholas Campbell, Oak Harbor, WA. Great-grandsons Gabriel Cheek and Harris Mushet. She is also survived by two sisters Reba Parker and Eula Keener.

Lois is predeceased by her parents Albert and Myrtle, brothers Harlan, Harold and Doyle, sisters, Estelle, Floy, Edith, Cleatus and Lita.
