Death James Keener died at age 86 yrs, 2 mos, and 21 days of age in the Connie Township near Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas. He was a widower and had been sick for just a few days. The informant on his death certificate (George Keener of Magnolia) stated he was a farmer, born in Columbia County to William Keener. He also indicated that James was buried in the Free Hope Cemetery on 12 September 1944.[6]

On June 13th, 1867, James Keener, age 21, [born abt 1846] married Miss. Armenia Ballard, age 17, in Columbia County, Arkansas. Both were residents of the County. The marriage was recorded in the Clerk's Office on the 15th of June, 1867.[8] This James was too old to be the one in this Profile; but is here for reference.
Jim Keener was listed as the father on the death certificate of his son, Emmett, on 28 February 1933. It shows that Jim was born in Columbia County, Arkansas. Along with him, was Emmett's mother, Nancy Bolden, who was also born in Columbia County, Arkansas. [9] Emmett’s wife’s named on the death certificate was Aurilla Keener.
If that is not enough confusion, add to it yet another wife. This one is the mother of his son Solomon Keener. Solomon Keener died at a young age of 37, on 25 August 1920, in Magnolia, Columbia County, Arkansas.[10] The cause of death was pulmonary tuberculosis. On his death certificate his parents were listed as Jim Keener and Nancy Shenoh, both born in Magnolia. This would imply that Jim Keener, Sr. was married to a different woman before he married Nancy Wellborn.
