Daughter of Thomas & Mercy (Lamb) Keeney
She married Richard Keeney (relative?) - parents of 13 children: Chester, Abiel, Ira, Lyman, Anna, John C., Harriet, Luther, Ezra, Richard T., Matilda, Charles M., & Hiram
It is related that, on one occasion, a party of men had driven a panther up a tree, near Rocky Forest, and no one of them dare stay alone to watch the beast while the others went for guns. Mercy, although but sixteen at this time, volunteered to remain, and did so, while two men went more than a mile for the firearms, with which the panther was dispatched.
