History of Elizabethtown: Alexander Keenee [Kinney] was a parishioner of Mr.Harriman as early as 1694, and was still here in 1709. At a town meeting, March 11, l701, Thomas Keenee, also, subscribed 5s. a year. They were sons of Alexander Keeney, of Wethersfield, Ct., of which he was a freeman in 1667, and died there in 1680, leaving his wife, Alice (who died, in 1683), and seven children. Alexander was born in 1662, and Thomas in 1664. They were neither of them admitted as Associates.*
MARY AIELCHERTSE, known also as MARY CLAESSEN, b. ca. 1677, Marbetown. She was possibly the first-born dau. of Melchior, as she was a witness at earlier dates than her sisters. With Cornelius and Jane Cool, she witnessed, 14 July 1700 (K), the baptism of her niece Susanna; and with Jacob Van der Mark, her nephew Melchert, 30 Mar. 1701 (K). She was probably the wife of THOMAS KINNEY, and the mother of Lelie, baptized 21 Sep. 1701 (K) at which her parents, Melchior (Melchert) and Susanna were witnesses. Thomas Kinney no doubt was a close male relative of Debora Kinney who m. 7. MELGERT. Child, b. So Debora Kiiney was from Elizabethtown New Jersey, and Thomas Kinney lived in Elizabethtown before 1701, when he married in Marbletown. Though some documentation has not been found, Thomas Kinney of Marbletown and Thomas of Elizabethtown were very likely the same person and he was likely the father of Debora.
