Biography

Fanny was born in 1833. She was the daughter of William Kees and Martha Haynes.

She was living with her parents and siblings in Western, Oneida county, New York in 1850.[1]

In 1855, she was a servant in the household of John and Mary West in Rome, Oneida, New York.[2]

She married Burton Thompson on 08 Jun 1857 in Walworth county, Wisconsin.[3] They had three children - Fred, William, and Clara.

They were in Greenwood, McHenry, Illinois in 1870.[4] Burton's parents, Joseph and Electa (Fosdick) Thompson, had also moved to McHenry county.

In 1880 and 1900, they were in Dorr, McHenry, Illinois.[5][6] In 1900, she was listed as the mother of three children with two living. Fred and Clara were on later censuses so the deceased child was William.

Burton passed away in 1901. Fanny went to live with daughter Clara and her husband Fred Pugh in Dorr in 1910 and 1920 and in Woodstock in 1930.[7][8][9]

She passed away in 1935 in Woodstock, McHenry, Illinois at the age of 101.[10] The death certificate indicated she was born in Syracuse, NY but the 1855 census indicated she was born in Oneida county, NY. It is interesting to note that her mother Martha (Haynes) Kees lived to the age of 102. Martha's obituary noted all her brothers and sisters lived past ninety, including a sister who lived to age 106.

Fanny was buried in Oakland cemetery in Woodstock, McHenry, Illinois.[11]
