Richard Keesee was born in about 1720 to George Keesee in Westmoreland County, Virginia. He married Ann Fisk in about 1740 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Richard and Ann had 7 children: Mary, George, Charles, John, Jerrymyah, Jesse and Anne.

Richard obtained 3 land grants: 3 Nov 1750, 280 ac. Amelia Co., VA; 5 Jun 1765, 320 ac. Halifax Co., VA and 2 June 1792, 845 ac. in Pittsylvania Co., VA. In 1777 in Pittsylvania Co., VA., he took the Oath of Allegiance in the Revolutionary War.

1776, 1789 John, Charles, Mary and George were disowned by Quaker church, for fighting, requesting to join the Baptist church and for non-attendance.

Richard died Jan 1, 1793 (or 1794) in Camden, Westmoreland County, Virginia (or Pittsylvania, Virginia).

Standefer, Compilers: "Pittsylvania County, Virginia Abstracts of Wills 1768-1800" p. 54 is the following: KEESEE, RICHARD D & W 9, P 497 D: Mar 9, 1789 Pr: Jan 20, 1794 Names: Wife Ann- all estate real and personal during her life or widowhood. At her death or in case she should marry the estate to be equally divided among all my children, Viz: Mary, George, Charles, John, Jeremiyah, Jess and Ann. If any of the above-mentioned children should dy in the life of me and my wife, they are to have no part, nor their heirs, of my estate. Executors: Sons, Charles and Jerrimaih Kessee. Witnesses: Nathaniel Hicks, Jinnah Hicks s/Rich'd Keesee. Proved by oaths of 2 witnesses and O.R. On Motion of Jesse Keesee. Letters of Administration granted Sec. Zechariah Lewis, Jacob Barges and Frederic Shelton
