Avery married Jenny Walden daughter of Patty Walden of Campbell co. Jenny's brother Henry Walden had married Avery's sister Maryann in1802, and it was he who signed the marriage bond.Early in their marriage, Avery and Jenny went west with other members of the Keesee family including brother Richard and sister Amy Greene and cousins Charles and Elias Keesee.A alrge tract of alnd was granted to them in Russell co,Va in what is now Logan Co W. Va.IN 1808 Avery sold his land and returned to Pitts. Co, Va.
He became a fairly proseprous tobacco farmer and at his death his estate was appraised at 8246.41 He owned eleven slaves whose name and value were listed in apprasial.Avery M. Keesee died 1858 at the age of 80 years, the cause of death being listed in courthouse records as "Old age".He and Jenny had no children of their own and his estate was divided between various nephews and neices.In 1870 a division list was made in Pittsylvania Co and included children of sister Amy Keesee Greene and brother Richard Keesee.
These relatives were living in KY and the money was deposited in the People's saving Bank of Lynchburg until one of the commisssioners could ascertain the names and addresses.[1][2]
