DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Cornelius by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Cornelius:
I've compared SAR and DAR application records on Ancestry. Descendants of three of Cornelius Keith's children all state he was born in Scotland. One of the applicants was the great-granddaughter of Cornelius Keith. Another individual, great-grandson of Cornelius Keith, states on his application that some of the information came from "written family records also verbal statement of several octogenarian members of Keith family, descendants of Cornelius Keith, who heard his wife Mary Laffoon Keith relate his and her experiences in the war."
Keith-1758 and Keith-519 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Spouse Bohannon would be 17 yrs older than husband. Spouse Lafoon is buried at Oolenoy. She is well documented in "of Keith and Kin"
This would fix a lot of half relationships with family.
The Find A Grave source (below) is problematic in that the mother, Juda Thompson-5511, was born in Virginia. Ergo, Cornelius Keith II was also born in Virginia, not Scotland.
This would fix a lot of half relationships with family.
