Biography

George Albert Keith was born in 1885. He attended Christian Brothers College in Memphis.

George's engagement to Josephine Egan was announced by Josephine's sister Kate and brother-in-law Frank E. Coles in the Sunday paper on 3 November 1912.[1] They planned to marry Wednesday morning, November 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her half-sister Annie's daughters Marguerite and Dora Metteer held a bridal shower Sunday, November 17.[2] Their son was born on 28 August 1916.[3]

Josephine filed for divorce and alimony in early September 1921.[4] She returned with George a week later to dismiss the bill.[5] Two weeks after that, she again filed for divorce due to abandonment and failure to provide.[6]

He died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, 24 March 1954 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. A requiem mass was said Friday morning 26 March 1954 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he was a communicant. He was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery with arrangements by J. W. Norris Funeral Home.[7]
