Note
Note: Dear Laura: I just wanted to let you know that I recently located some information on the Internet that may pertain to our Thomas Brannan. There is a Thomas Brannan who married Susanna Barnes in Greene County, Tennessee, January 1818. Could this be our Thomas Brannan and his first wife? William Brannan stated on one census that he was from "Greenland." Maybe this is what he meant. More research would be needed. However, this could be a viable possibility. I haven't updated my site on rootsweb.com yet. However, I wanted to share this with you. You can see the site by simply putting the following in your search engine: "Thomas Brannan Susanna Barnes" It will take you to the website of marriages. Hope all is well with you. It is hot here in Nebraska. Debra Brannan djbrnnn@aol.com
Hi Laura: You can also access it at this web site on GenWeb. http://files.usgwarchives.org/tn/statewide/vitals/marriages/barnes01.txt I have been looking at Greene County sites this afternoon. There were a lot of Brannans in the county. The family search web site (www.familysearch.com) says something in addition to the above marriage listing: They say Susanna Barnes was the daughter of Henry Keller. The web site is a little confusing. I'm not sure if they mean that Susanna Barnes was the daughter of Henry Keller. Or do they mean Thomas Brannan was the son of Henry Keller Brannan. If Susanna Barnes was the daughter of Henry Keller, does that mean she was married (1) to a man named Barnes? I think we would need more information to understand this reference. It does, however, seem quite possible that the Thomas Brannan who m. Susanna Barnes could be our Thomas Brannan. When I have more time, I thought I would contact the Greene County Historical Society. Take care, Debbie
