Mathias was born in 1867 in Germany. He was the son of George Michael Keller and Apollonia Braun.[1] He came the the United States about 1886.
He married Emma Frances Nagele (1870-1924) in 1890 in Illinois.[2][3] They had several children:

After Emma's death he remarried, perhaps twice, although sources are needed for Mary Bowman (1870-1943).
He married Mary Anna or Anna Marie Halter (1875-1965), previously married to Henry Nieters. The date given for that marriage is 1943; sources still needed.
He passed away in 1953. He is buried in Saint Thomas Church Cemetery in Vincennes, IN.
