Alfred Kelley was born on November 18, 1878, in Ohio to Alcinda Josephine Cozzon and James A Kelley. He had two brothers, David and Harry, who were born in April 1884 and September 1894, respectively. Alfred lived in Marlboro, Ohio in 1880 and later moved to Leipsic, Ohio in 1900.
Alfred married Bertha Eldora Coldren and together they had three sons and two daughters between 1906 and 1917. Their first son, Harry Leroy, was born on February 13, 1906, in Parkin, Arkansas. Their second son, James Henry, was born on October 16, 1907, also in Parkin. Their first daughter, Ethel Marie, was born on December 3, 1909. Their second daughter, Mary Bernice, was born on September 3, 1913. Their third son, Alfred Utley, was born on December 16, 1917.
Alfred lived in Tyronza, Arkansas in 1910 and later moved to Cross County in Arkansas in 1917. He worked as a stave cutter at a stave mill that produced narrow strips of wood for the sides of barrels that were vital for the transportation of goods at that time.
In 1920 he lived in Parkin and farmed to earn a living. Alfred’s mother Alcinda Josephine passed away on February 23, 1927 at the age of 76 and his father James A passed away on September 16 of the same year at the age of 79.
Alfred Kelley died on October 17, 1933 at the age of 54 and was buried in Wynne, Arkansas.
