Capt. Samuel, son of John Kellogg was born in Hadley, April 1, 1687[1]. He married 1) 8 July 1714, his cousin, Mary Ashley born 12 March 1694; she died 3 April 1728; he married (2) 3 June 1728, his cousin Rachel Ashley born 14 Feb 1695. He built a saw mill and grist mill at the half mile fall. He also built the second meeting-house in 1721. He died 27 May 1761 and was buried in Westfield.
