Agnes was born in 1824 in Campbeltown, Scotland. She was the daughter of Peter Kelly and Catherine Stewart.[1]
She married Spencer Weldon in Illinois in 1854.[2]
They farmed in Winnebago. [3]
Agnes passed away in 1901.
The funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Agnes Weldon were held at her lat home Sunday at 1:30 o'clock. Mrs. Weldon was born at Campbeltown, Scotland, May 29, 1825. When about 20 years of age she emigrated to this country with her parents and lived on a farm near Argyle. Here she formed the friendship of Spencer S. Weldon to whom she was married about 47 years ago. Eight children were born to them, six of whom are now living, Mary and Samuel, William, John, and Lincoln. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Charles Brown of Caledonia, Ill., and Mrs. Hugh and John McMillin of Macomb, Ill. To her, this transfer of citizenship was a great gain.
Becoming a Christian early in life she united herself with the Presbyterian church of Campbeltown, Scotland. After moving to Winnebago her membership began with the Congregational church of Winnebago. Her work with this church was quite consistent, unwavering fidelity. She was suppressed in her devotion to her church for a time by an evil influence which permeated the atmosphere around her but was overcome in her delusion by her richer experiences in her true Christ. Unselfish in her nature, she was seeking the good of others. Her life was an everyday Christian life. One never found her on the mountaintop today and in the valley tomorrow. She was continually climbing up into richer experiences and a larger faith. In sickness, her ministry was spontaneous as the rivulet from the mountainside.
At the end of more than three score years and ten, her life being packed with continuous usefulness, she expressed to one in the family that she was ready to pass on. She wanted to go home and be at rest. Her chief desire was to depart and be with her Lord. [4]
