Catherine Mary Baptist Kelly was born in Ireland circa 1851.

The Kelly family, John and Ellen and two children, travelled to the Colony of Western Australia on board the ship Clara arriving on 3 September 1853. She carried a human cargo of 48 married couples with their children numbering 101 and 124 single females. [1][2]
Carherine’s father John was recorded as an agricultural labourer on arrival. He became a police Constable and was stationed in York and Toodyay.
Catherine Kelly married Francis Kelly in Geraldton in 1882. [3] Francis was the son of John Kelly and Anna Fox. They arrived in the Colony on board the Lincellis on 28 January 1862, John was an enrolled pension guard. Francis was an infant.
Katie and Frank, as they were known, had seven children. Sadly Katie their second child died at 1 day old. Their third daughter born in 1885 was stillborn. Elsie (named after Kathleen’s sister) died from typhoid fever in 1901.
Their Seventh child Hubert’s middle name was O’Donovan, named after Katie’s mother.
Katie was 53 when her father passed away in Subiaco on 18 November 1904.
Katie passed away in Perth on 1 June 1927, her age is recorded as 68 years old, Katie would have been 76 years old according to her father’s death certificate. [4]
Kathleen’s remains were interred in the Roman Catholic section of the Karrakatta Cemetery. [5]
