Biography

John was the son of Julia and John Kelly, Senior Sergeant of Police in Parramatta.

He became a Journalist employed with the Australian Star, Sunday Sun and managing Editor of the Moree & Gwydir Examiner.

He married in 1890 at St Patricks church in Sydney to Eveline Ashby. They raised a family of 9 children who were all to survive him.

John Kelly passed away in 1920 aged 52 and is buried at Woronora Cemetery, Sutherland. He was survived by one of his siblings, Sister M Placid, St Joseph's, Newtown.
