Biography

Mabel Kelly was born on December 4, 1888 to Edwin Kelly and Clara Smith in New York. ^[1]

In the 1900 United States Census, Mabel, age 11, lived with her grandparents, Frances and J. Monroe Smith in Buffalo Ward 24, Erie, New York. Mabel was part of the Smith's extended family that included her father, and mother, sister Flora, age 7, brother Henry, age 14 and three Underwood cousins, and their parents.

On September 4, 1907, Mabel Kelly married Richard George Heron. They had eight children - Edwin, Claude, Mabel, Donald, Clara, Gordon, Betty, and Richard.

In 1910, Mabel and Richard resided in Buffalo Ward 20, Erie, New York with their son, Edwin, age 1. ^[2]

In 1920, Mabel and Richard's family had grown to include children Claude, Mabel, Donald, Clara, as well as Edwin. The family was engaged in farming in Leon, Cattaraugus, New York. ^[3] They lived in Middlebury, Wyoming, New York in 1925.^[4]

By 1930, Mabel and Richard moved to Erie, New York with their family that now included two more children, Gordon and Betty. Richard was employed as an electrician. ^[5]

Mabel and Richard and four of their eight children, including son Richard born in 1932, lived in Ward 23 of Buffalo, Erie, New York in 1940. ^[6]

In 1950, Mabel and Richard moved to Middlebury, Wyoming, New York, and to Warsaw, Wyoming, New York in 1958.

Mabel died on November 3, 1966 after a two-year illness in the Middlebury, Wyoming, New York home of her eldest son, Edwin R. Heron, and was buried in Dale Cemetery, Dale, Wyoming, New York. ^{[7] [8]}
